LogicMonitor launches Kubernetes monitoring, Azure services updates

LogicMonitor has added Kubernetes monitoring to the feature lineup of its SaaS platform.

The monitoring outfit’s take on Kubernetes monitoring relies on a pair of lightweight applications running as a pod in the cluster. Cluster resources are auto-discovered, and data collected via the Kubernetes API, in both on prem clusters and in the cloud.

At the same time, it has announced LM Service Insight, which allows key metrics to be aggregated, eg resources for a specific application or service, and measuring SLA conformance. It said this could be used to “aggregate data across ephemeral containers” to gain “an understanding of overall applications performance over time.”

New Year, New Azure Portal

Microsoft has given its Azure Portal a pre-spring brush-up. A refreshed landing page should make key services easier to discover and access, while dashboards now allow times scales to be set globally.

Redmond has also made it easier to manage containers via the portal, without the need to manage servers, or even learn new tools. Containers can be started – or restarted – directly from the portal. A revamped Start command on the Azure Container Instances portal will display all container images.

Security updates for Team Foundation Server

Meanwhile, Microsoft has announced a series of security updates for Team Foundation Server. These include a patch for a cross site scripting vulnerability and a bug which could display variables marked as secret.

The updates affect Team Foundation Server 2017 and 2018, but the vulnerabilities also exist in Azure DevOps Server 2019 RC1. They will be fixed by RC2, which is due later this month.
